COVID-19 VACCINATION INFORMATION

1.  At this time our office will not be giving Covid-19 vaccinations, but this may change if need be. So check back.
2. In general, doctors cannot request a vaccine for their patients. You will receive the vaccine based on guidelines from the CDC and the California and Marin Departments of Public Health.
3. Phase 1b vaccinations started in Marin Jan 2021 for people 75 years (followed by 65 years) or older and for those with high-risk at work.
4. Phase 1c vaccinations have not started yet, for 50-64 years old or younger if you also have an underlying health condition (see list below).
5. Places of distribution will include local healthcare clinics (Sutter Health, Kaiser, Marin Health, Veterans Administration) and through the Dept of Public Health. CVS and Walgreens will give out vaccinations once its available to the general public.

                   HEALTH CONDITIONS THAT MAY INCREASE YOUR RISK OF
                                                  SEVERE COVID-19 ILLNESS
  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies
  • Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from solid organ transplant
  • Obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 30 kg/m2 or higher but < 40 kg/m2)
  • Severe obesity (BMI ≥ 40 kg/m2)
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Smoking
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Children who are medically complex
  • Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
  • Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Hypertension or high blood pressure
  • Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from blood or bone marrow transplant, immune deficiencies, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or use of other immune weakening medicines
  • Neurologic conditions, such as dementia
  • Liver disease
  • Overweight (BMI > 25 kg/m2, but < 30 kg/m2)
  • Pulmonary fibrosis (having damaged or scarred lung tissues)
  • Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
  • Type 1 diabetes mellitus

COVID-19 TESTING

Diagnostic Testing can be obtained here:
1. LHI in San Rafael or Petaluma. Register here.
2. Marin County Public Health Department.
3. If you are a patient of Marin Health, ask your Provider to send an order for the test if you have symptoms.
